Day 2 and 3

Day 2:

The Uffizi--amazing. Seeing the paintings I've been learning about for years close up was a bit surreal. Here's some of what I saw.

Botticelli's The Birth of Venus
Rembrandt. Self Portrait

Da Vinci

Day 3:

Today we went to view the real statue of David, done by Michelangelo. It is extremely difficult to describe the size of this piece. It's 17 feet tall, but that didn't mean anything to me until I saw it. Unfortunately no pictures of that. We also took a walk to the highest point of Florence. Tired today.

Day 1: Arrival in Florence

Yesterday was my first day. The airports were frustrating and I was tired. That aside, this is what I saw on my first day in Italy.

Yum.

Carousel. We ate dinner at a restaurant right by it. I had gnocci. :) mmmm

View of the Duomo from my window.

Florence

Hello all. I'm currently residing in a large apartment with 14 other MIAD students in Florence Italy. Today was the first day of a four week study abroad program.

Today is surreal. I do not feel as if I am truly here yet. We walked around and ate dinner. The city is beautiful and there is a lot to see. The night ended with a small cone filled with chocolate chip gelato. Now, back in the apartment I am going to sleep and try and adjust to this time zone.

See you later. :)

It's been a while......

I haven't posted in.....ooooh......about 2 months. School has been busy and it is finally winding down. I have 4 days left of the first half of my college career. :)

On friday I begin moving into our new apartment. It is 3 floors above the one we are currently in, so moving should be reasonably simple.

These photos are from my printing processes final. The project name was "future." That is all the teacher gave us to work with. So, I decided to make people look robotic by printing on metal, but with the time constraint we had I instead bought clear vinyl sticky paper (like what bumper stickers are made of) and mounted them on the metal.

Click on the post title for the song of the day. :)
